Dennis joins Liverpool John Lennon Airport 5k Night Run

We are proud to share that max20 employee Dennis successfully completed the Liverpool John Lennon Airport 5K Runway Night Run this November, raising funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

The event took place overnight from 21st–22nd November 2025, with runners heading out at 2:00am to complete 5 kilometres along the airport’s actual runway — a rare and exciting opportunity in support of a fantastic cause. To show our support, max20 has donated £100 towards Dennis’s fundraising efforts. On the night, 300 keen supporters, all in bright orange T-shirts, assembled in one of the airport’s hangers prior to the official start time of 2:00am Sunday morning.

Despite the cold weather, Dennis completed the 5k run in just 30 minutes and 3 seconds! Receiving grateful thanks from the Alder Hey Charity Team as well as the commemorative medal for his efforts.

Dennis shared why he decided to take on this unique challenge:

“Ever been stuck at an airport for a few hours waiting for that connecting flight? There are reports of people finding ‘quiet’ corridors to fill the time by going for a run. There’s even a challenge to run the fastest 5k within an airport building; but I wouldn’t risk security getting upset by you legging it around!

And then I saw an invitation to run a 5k along the runway at Liverpool John Lennon Airport raising funds for the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Now I’ve ran around the runways at Manchester Airport quite a few times and underneath it as well, but this is on the actual runway! So, I was in. No questions asked. Even when I found out it starts at 2.00am on a cold, dark November Saturday. Just 3 miles for a great cause – I’ll do the hard work if you donate the cost of a cappuccino.”

At max20, we’re delighted to support Dennis in raising funds for such an important charity. Alder Hey provides life-changing care for children and their families, and we’re proud to play a small part in supporting their incredible work. What was a great motivator is that all the money raised is going towards the purchase of a specialist piece of equipment which treats eye defects which can occur in premature babies – something definitely worth running for!

Dennis’s Just Giving page is still open until the end of November – find it here!
