This month, we are proud to support Rob Stones through our Charity Champions initiative, with a £500 donation towards his incredible fundraising challenge for Liverpool Women’s Hospital Charity Honeysuckle Bereavement Service at Liverpool Women’s University Hospital.
Rob is taking on an extraordinary endurance challenge called Beyond84. He will run a full marathon (26.2 miles) every day for 84 consecutive days, covering more than 2,200 miles in total.
Why Beyond84?
The idea behind the challenge is a powerful one. During a woman’s third trimester, her body uses the equivalent energy of running a marathon every day for around 84 days. Rob is using that fact to shine a light on the experience of families affected by pregnancy loss, stillbirth and neonatal death, and to raise funds for the Honeysuckle Bereavement Service, which supports parents during some of the hardest moments imaginable.
A cause close to home
For Rob, this challenge is deeply personal.
As he explains:
“I’ve seen close friends and family struggle after losing a baby and the devastating emotional and physical toll it takes. It’s something I wish no one had to go through. The Honeysuckle Team provides such compassionate support during the darkest moments – I honestly struggle to put into words how important their work is.”
Rob will complete most of his miles alone, but he will also host a number of community runs throughout the challenge, giving people the chance to join him, show support and help raise awareness.
He added:
“This challenge will be incredibly hard, but it’s only a drop in the ocean compared to what these families go through. Every donation, every share, every message of support means so much. You’re genuinely helping to make a difference.”
What the fundraising will support
Funds raised through Beyond84 will help support grieving families through the work of the Honeysuckle Bereavement Service. This includes:
- Memory making activities such as casting, wreath making, photographs and keepsakes for families to treasure.
- Monthly peer support sessions.
- An annual remembrance service.
- Bereavement rooms that offer more comfort and privacy for families experiencing baby loss at any stage of pregnancy.
- Less clinical debrief rooms.
- Honeysuckle FC, a support space for dads experiencing baby loss.
- The Honeysuckle remembrance garden.
- Training and expenses for bereavement volunteers.
Why we are supporting Rob
At max20, our Charity Champions initiative exists to support people going the extra mile for NHS related causes. Rob’s challenge is a remarkable example of that.
The NHS is at the heart of what we do, and supporting fundraising efforts connected to NHS charities is one way we can help amplify the impact of causes that matter deeply to people and families.
Rob’s determination, the scale of the challenge, and the meaning behind it make Beyond84 an inspiring Charity Champions story, and we are proud to back him.
