Walking Football with the Wythenshawe Warriors – Year Two of Support

Apr 28, 2026 | Charity, News

max20 are committed to supporting initiatives that create real, lasting impact within local communities. That’s why we’re delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Wythenshawe Warriors Walking Football programme for a second consecutive year.

Following the success of last year’s partnership, this continued support reflects our belief in the power of accessible, community-led activities to improve health, wellbeing, and social connection.

Who are the Wythenshawe Warriors?

The Wythenshawe Warriors are a community-focused walking football group that has built a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and abilities. Their sessions are about far more than just playing football, they offer a space where individuals can come together, stay active, and feel part of something meaningful.

Through the dedication of organisers and participants alike, the Warriors have created a supportive network that encourages people to reconnect with sport, rebuild confidence, and develop lasting friendships.

What makes walking football special?

Walking football is a thoughtful adaptation of the traditional game, designed to make it accessible to a wider range of people. By removing running from play, it creates a safer and more manageable way to stay active – particularly for those returning to exercise, managing injuries, or simply looking for a lower-impact alternative.

But the real value of walking football goes beyond the physical benefits. It provides:

  • A safe and inclusive way to stay active
  • Opportunities to improve both physical and mental wellbeing
  • A regular social outlet that helps reduce isolation
  • A supportive environment where people can build confidence

For many participants, it’s not just about the game. It’s about belonging to a community that supports and motivates each other.

Why max20 are supporting the Warriors

As part of our Charity Champions initiative, max20 is proud to once again support the Wythenshawe Warriors with a £500 donation. This funding helps ensure the programme can continue to grow, remain accessible, and reach even more people within the community.

Our work closely aligns with the values promoted by initiatives like this. By supporting programmes that encourage healthier lifestyles, improve wellbeing, and strengthen social connections, we are contributing to wider efforts that echo the goals of the NHS and community health organisations.

Supporting health, wellbeing and community

Community-led initiatives like the Wythenshawe Warriors are increasingly important. They play a key role in promoting inclusivity, encouraging regular physical activity, and creating a strong sense of belonging.

The impact is felt both on and off the pitch. Participants benefit from improved fitness, enhanced mental wellbeing, and the opportunity to form meaningful relationships – all of which contribute to a better overall quality of life.

We are incredibly proud to stand alongside the Wythenshawe Warriors for a second year and to support a programme that truly demonstrates the power of sport to bring people together.

We look forward to seeing the programme continue to grow and to hearing more inspiring stories from those involved in the months ahead.
