Wythenshawe Warriors WFC Annual Tournament – Story of the day

Oct 2, 2025 | News

What a day. Twelve teams, plenty of goals, and a brilliant atmosphere from first whistle to last.

Congratulations to the winners

Denton Town lifted the trophy again – two years on the bounce.
Prestatyn WFC pushed them all the way to take second, just a single point behind, and Mold Town WFC claimed a well-earned third.
Huge well done to all three, and to every team that made the tournament such a great watch.

“Well done Denton Town… second year in a row! Prestatyn WFC in second by one point, third for Mold Town WFC. What a fantastic day.” — Wythenshawe Warriors WFC

With thanks from max20, and on behalf of the Wythenshawe Warriors

Days like this come together because of people who quietly make them work.
From everyone at max20, and with thanks from the Warriors too:

  • Christiaan Steyn, for stepping in when it mattered and doing a superb job.
  • Eleen Cowgill, for keeping the photos flowing and serving as first aider on the day.
  • The brilliant scorekeeper, faultless from first kick to final whistle.
  • The referees, Dennis Light, Jeff Barnes, Steven Fenn and Sohail Javed, fair, steady and consistent throughout.
  • And to every player and volunteer who mucked in whenever an extra pair of hands was needed.

Why we backed the Warriors

Walking football gets people moving and brings people together. It supports heart health, balance and mobility, lifts mood, and gives players a weekly reason to turn up and belong. That fits perfectly with the NHS focus on prevention and community health, and it is exactly the kind of local effort we want to back.
